All too often in the early stages of creating a new company brand or logo, questions and uncertainty arise as to the visual wants and needs for a new corporate identity. Should it be an iconic logo? Should it be a logo that is more unique in typography and less on the iconic aspect? These are all great and valid questions and Inktvis Creative will be able to help you answers these questions and provide you with a unique and inviting logo to help successfully launch your new brand.
Before you contact your designers, you should have a few things already written down because the more you are prepared, the easier it is for us to start on the design process and to ensure that it’s going down the right track from the start. The following is a list of questions that you might be able to answer and provide your logo design company, if not, no worries, we’ll help you through this process.
One of the toughest things an advertising company can deal with is “design by committee.” Most companies have multiple people that are involved with the day to day operations and everyone wants to have their say and help in choosing an appropriate logo for the company. This is fine, but choose one person who will represent your company and make them the lead point of contact for all communications to the design firm.
It might be a great idea to meet with these people and toss out all the things you know you don’t want in your new logo, and write down all the ideas that others have suggested.
1. What products or services does your company offer?
2. What is your company goal or mission?
3. Who is your target market? Kids? 20-30 age group? Seniors?
4. Who are other companies that offer the same service? What unique service does your company offer compared to them?
Being able to provide a list of website addresses pointing to your competition is very helpful.
5. Do you like your competitors brand(s)? If so, what do you like about it?
6. Have you seen any brands or logos elsewhere that you like the look and feel of, if so, where?
Please have a list of these or website addresses to point to. Let us know what you like about these logos, what makes them successful in your point of view.
7. Do you already have any specific ideas, iconic representations that you’d like to see incorporated into your logo?
8. Do you have a slogan or tagline that needs to be a part of your logo? If so, what is it?
9. Any existing brand or corporate colours we need to be aware of?
It’s very important to know if you’ve already got an existing brand. We certainly don’t want to deviate too far off your current existing marketing efforts if it has been working for your company in the past. It can be an expensive change if you have to go around and change all the colours of your marketing material, office walls or company cars.
10. In 3 words, what do you want the logo to say about your company.
11. What is your budget?
When a design company asks you what your budget is, it’s not to try to figure out how much to charge you, it’s a great gauge as to what can and can’t be done. If a company says they have a very tight budget, then we’ll figure out the best strategy possible to help assist in them obtaining their branding goals while keeping their budget in mind. There are options out there for every company, big or small, large budget or small budget.
If you can’t answer any of these questions or you just don’t know, that’s not a problem at all. We have a lot of experience in logo design and development and we can walk you through this process. That’s what we are here for.
